Oh Gogol Bordello! Gypsy punk is probably the best genre ever created. Actually, almost every genre mixed with punk is fantastic, excluding pop.
posted over 9 years agoagreed. have you seen “wristcutters”? one of the main characters was based off of the lead singer of gogol bordello and they have alot of theyre music in the movie. its great!
posted over 9 years agoWristcutters: A Love Story? I’ve been meaning to download it after reading about it in Nylon. It seemed like a really entertaining story, a love story that hasn’t been shoved down our throats.
And Modest Mouse is beyond fantastic. They also have some of the coolest music videos I’ve seen to date.

posted over 9 years agoHow about 90’s industrial rock? My personal favourite!
Stabbing Westward, Nine Inch Nails, Filter, ect…
I haven’t heard of Modest Mouse stuff from the 90s, mostly just their music from the last decade. Their songs still sounds pretty new and contemporary to me. They even played the theme song for Flapjack cartoon for the newer seasons.
The Flaming Lips made a few good songs from the 90s (She don’t use jelly), then their newer albums got better. I saw their performance last summer, they’re just awesome. I think they’re better live than their productions. I also believe Karen O made some howling sounds for one of their albums.
Belle and Sebastian!
I remembered listening to the band Garbage when I was younger. They were pretty mainstream then, kind of pop-rockish…but they were fun!
Most of the indie bands I like are either from the late 80s or this era.
